Teachers - again heroes

Most people really don't understand the enormous responsibility teachers have once the "little ones" exit buses and cars and land their feet onto school property. The recent incidents, namely the Newtown shooting and the Oklahoma tornado, keep reminding us of how teachers put themselves front and center when faced with danger. Teachers go through a lot to ensure that the lives placed in our hands return safely home.

I hope the next time we're faced with how much teachers make, firing teachers, or putting teachers in positions of getting food stamps, we remember these times.

We do this gigantic job because we care.

Last week was National Teacher's Appreciation Week. Go to the dollar store and get your child's teacher a cheap something - believe me that goes a long way. In these days and times, I cannot really see how people neglect telling (and showing) teachers "Thank You."

When all of this dust settles and we collect ourselves AGAIN from yet another tragedy, we will see teachers doing what we do best - putting our lives second to others.

God bless the people of Oklahoma.
